Sometimes the best products do not begin with a business plan.

They begin with a very simple question:

“Is there a better way to do this?”

That is exactly how Hedomi Study Hub started.

The idea came from a real situation involving my son’s private teacher. She works with a relatively small group of students — around ten children in total — and gives them individual attention during their lessons.

Her main job is, of course, teaching.

She explains school subjects, helps students understand difficult topics, works through homework with them, answers questions, and makes sure they really understand what they are learning.

But there was something else she wanted to give them.

Something to use after the lesson was over.

The Problem: Students Need Something to Review Later

During a lesson, a student can understand everything perfectly.

Then a few days pass.

And suddenly some of that information starts disappearing.

That is completely normal.

This is why revision is so important.

The teacher wanted her students to have a simple resource they could return to later — especially before a school test or exam.

Not another enormous textbook.

Not pages and pages of complicated explanations.

Just the essential information.

A clear summary of the topic.

A few flashcards to help remember the most important concepts.

And a short quiz so the student could check whether they really understood the material.

It sounds simple.

But creating all of this manually for several students and several school subjects takes time.

A lot of time.

And for a private teacher, time is already limited.

So I Built a Solution for Her

I am a developer, so when I saw the problem, my first thought was naturally:

Why not automate part of this work?

That idea eventually became Hedomi Study Hub.

It is a self-hosted educational platform designed to help teachers, tutors, and small educational businesses create additional learning materials for their students without spending hours preparing everything manually.

The teacher can create a topic and organize material for a student inside her own platform.

And when she needs help preparing the content, artificial intelligence can assist her.

Instead of spending a long time manually creating revision materials, she can generate educational content much faster.

The platform can help transform a topic into resources such as:

  • a concise study summary;
  • flashcards for revision;
  • quizzes to test knowledge;
  • additional learning material that students can access outside the lesson.

The teacher still decides what her students need.

The technology simply helps her prepare it.

AI Should Help Teachers — Not Replace Them

This was one of the most important ideas behind Hedomi Study Hub.

I did not want to create something that tried to replace a teacher.

A good teacher does much more than deliver information.

A teacher understands when a student is confused.

She explains the same idea in a different way.

She notices weaknesses.

She encourages.

She adapts a lesson to a real person sitting in front of her.

Artificial intelligence cannot replace that relationship.

But AI can save the teacher from repetitive work.

And that difference matters.

If technology can reduce the time spent preparing summaries, flashcards, and quizzes, the teacher can spend more of her energy on the part of teaching that actually requires a human being.

A Small Platform Can Be Enough

Another important realization came from this project.

Educational technology does not have to be designed only for huge schools with thousands of students.

Sometimes a teacher has eight students.

Or ten.

Or twenty.

And that teacher still deserves good tools.

A private tutor may not need a giant Learning Management System with hundreds of features, complicated subscriptions, and an interface designed for a university.

She may simply need her own place where students can log in, find their materials, revise a lesson, use flashcards, and complete a quiz.

That was exactly the kind of platform I wanted to create.

Something practical.

Something that a real teacher could actually use.

Why Self-Hosted?

Hedomi Study Hub is also different from many online educational services because it is self-hosted.

That means the platform can run on the owner’s own hosting rather than existing only inside someone else’s subscription service.

For teachers and small educational businesses, this can provide much more independence.

Instead of building everything inside a platform that could later change its prices, rules, limitations, or features, the teacher has her own educational environment.

Her platform.

Her students.

Her content.

Her brand.

And that was important to me when developing the project.

From One Teacher’s Request to a Product for Other Educators

What started as a solution for one private teacher gradually became something I realized other educators could use too.

There are thousands of tutors, language teachers, homeschooling educators, coaches, and small learning centers dealing with exactly the same problem:

They know how to teach.

They know what their students need.

But there are only so many hours in a day.

Preparing beautiful additional material for every lesson can easily become another job on top of teaching itself.

Technology should make that easier.

That is the idea behind Hedomi Study Hub.

Not to change what a good teacher does.

Not to automate education.

But to take some of the repetitive work away so that teachers can spend more time doing what they do best:

teaching.

And perhaps my favorite thing about this project is that it did not begin as an abstract idea for a product.

It began with a real teacher, real students, and one very practical problem.

Sometimes that is exactly where the most useful technology begins.
